How important is breakfast for your kids?

Are your kids skipping breakfast in all the early morning rush of getting to school on time? Amidst getting kids ready for school, your own rush to get to the office on time and household chores that need to be done, providing a nutritious breakfast to your kids seems a monumental task and often takes a backseat. A good breakfast is the most important meal that you can provide to your kids.

Kids who have breakfast tend to do well in school over kids who skip breakfast. They have better memory concentration and mental alertness. A healthy breakfast for kids should comprise of whole grains, fruit and dairy products. Having breakfast leads your kids to pay better attention in school and score well in tests. These kids are not likely to over eat during their mid-day snacks and thus help them in maintaining a healthy weight. After 8-12 hours without food overnight, your kid’s body needs to fuel up on a nutritious meal. The key vitamins and minerals in their breakfast provide them with the necessary immune build up against common cold and cough. Children having breakfast regularly also tend to be punctual, have a high attendance record due to their boosted immunity. Stronger and healthy bones can be maintained with a healthy breakfast of milk, cereal and fruit. Are you still comfortable with your kids skipping breakfast?

Below are some quick and healthy breakfast ideas for your kids:
1) Make cucumber sandwiches from wheat bread with low fat cheese spread and cucumber slices sandwiched in between.
2) Cheesy tomato omelettes sprinkled with pepper, cilantro makes a healthy and yummy breakfast.
3) Fresh fruits combined with yoghurt accompanied by whole grain cereals also make for great start to your kid’s day.
