Simple Remedies to Relieve Asthma

The number of people affected by Asthma is increasing every year. A polluted environment and polluted home interiors are among the largest causes for the occurrence of asthma. Asthma can be triggered by animal (pets) hair (dander), dust, pollen, mold, gas , smoke, food, cold weather and a change in climate. Asthma is chronic disease that can be life threatening. However, it is treatable and can be easily relieved or prevented with simple home remedies.

The first step is knowing the triggers that cause asthma and avoid these allergens.

A glass of hot milk boiled with two to three cloves of garlic also relieves asthma.

Turmeric is known for its medicinal properties. Warm water with a pinch of turmeric taken twice a day, also helps ease the symptoms of asthma.

A spoonful of honey with a few drops of ginger juice taken on an empty stomach in the morning is an effective remedy for asthma sufferers.

Boil ginger, basil leaf and black pepper in equal amounts to derive a concoction. Consume this with half a spoonful of honey.

Burn asafoetida on a pan and inhale the smoke to soothe spasms of bronchial asthma.

Inhale the fumes released by boiling carom seeds in water to relieve chest congestion.

To prevent excessive production of phlegm consume carom seeds in the form of powder or prepare a deconcoction and consume it warm.

Basil leaves are also reputed for its anti – asthmatic properties. Juice obtained from crushing these leaves can be taken with honey and ginger juice to create an affective remedy for asthma.

Juice from fresh mint leaves taken with ginger juice and honey taken twice a day is effective in decreasing phlegm.
