Tips for Healthy Eating

Today, we live in an age where everyone is concerned about their diet and the food they eat. Crash diets and incorrect eating habits, may cause weight loss, but in the long run they may affect our body beyond repair. To avoid this, let us explore a few tips that will surely help us to remain young and fit.

1) Have a variety in your meal

A human body needs approximately 40 types of nutrients daily, and a single food cannot provide it all. Include different foodstuffs that are rich in carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, etc. to help your body function normally.

2) Eat moderately

You might have been advised to steer clear of your favourite muffin or pastry, to lose weight, but depriving yourself of your favourite food would only result in cheating and overeating. To avoid all this, have your much-loved dessert once a weak in moderate quantity.

3) Eat fresh local produce

While shopping for those exotic and foreign vegetables and fruits, just remember that the farther the food has travelled to reach your plate; its nutritive value has changed accordingly. Consuming local produce will ensure your food retains its nutritive value that may get lost in storing and travelling for long distances.

4) Eat regularly

Starving yourself for many hours and then gorging food aimlessly means an upset stomach. Ideally you should eat regularly after every 2-3 hours, to keep your metabolism active.

5) Do not over process

To get the maximum benefits from your food do not over process them, ideally food should be cooked only to make it easy to digest. Fruits should be eaten raw, mashing them into pulp or making juices will destroy the fibre which is necessary for healthy bowel movements.
